5th Grader In Sacramento Threatened To Sacrifice Her Classmates To The Devil + VIDEO
SACRAMENTO, CA – An unusual outburst in a combined 5th and 6th grade classroom at John Sloat Elementary School has some students and parents concerned.
6th grader Zionni Ibarra was in the class when it happened.
“I was scared,” Ibarra said. “And I was crying really bad.”
Students said a 5th grade girl started shouting she was part of the Illuminati and threatened to kill other students.
“She said she wanted to sell her soul to the devil,” Ibarra said. “And she said she’ll kill everybody.”
“Everybody just started crying because they were scared that they were going to die that day,” 6th grader Elizabeth Martinez added. Martinez was also in the class and witnessed everything.
At one point, students said she grabbed a pair of scissors.
“I seen her try to cut herself and draw blood,” 5th grader Xavier Monti explained what happened in the class. “But then she got up and tried to stab another girl a seat away from her.”
Students said she drew Illuminati symbols and wrote 666 in the bathroom. Students said her outburst went on for at least an hour, with the teacher only telling them to ignore the girl.
“He thought she was just trying to get attention,” Monti said.
Parent Antonio Farinias contacted News10 because he thinks the school should have notified him immediately.
Parents received a phone call after school Thursday, letting them know something had happened at the school.
“To not be notified all day until 6:30 at night last that was real upsetting,” Farinias explained. “Because when I picked up my kids from school they were in tears.”
“You never know what to tell your kids when they come home telling you ‘hey this happened, that happened,’ and there’s different rumors, and you’re like ‘which one do I believe? What really happened?’” parent Rebecca Fox said. “[The school district] can’t tell you what really happened, you have all these questions and worry and wonder with your kids.”
The Sacramento City Unified School District confirmed an incident happened at the school shortly before lunch Thursday, although district officials would not go into more detail.
“Authorities are investigating a disturbance inside a John Sloat Elementary School classroom [Thursday]“, said Gabe Ross, SCUSD Chief Communications Officer, in a statement emailed to News10. “The school responded immediately and all students were safe. The incident did not involve weapons and no one was physically harmed. Counseling and other resources have been made available to all John Sloat students today and will continue to be available as needed.”
The school also sent a letter home with kids Friday afternoon reiterating a similar message.
“There was a weapon involved. It was a pair of scissors,” Farinias said. “So it shocks me to see there are false statements in here knowing otherwise what happened at school yesterday.”
Some parents who spoke to News10 think the school could have done more to protect the kids in class and should have taken the girl out of class much sooner.
“They should have stopped it right away,” parent Aime Martinez said. “And not let her scare them more.”
“With all the stuff going on in school, what does it take for a child to show you something is wrong and for her to follow through with what she says she is going to do? Farinias asked.
Other parents said they think the school acted in the kids’ best interests.
“[Taking care of the issue] was more important than us being notified,” parent Mary Walters said. “Yeah, we got notified late, and I’m gonna go with that, but our children were safe, and they made sure our children were safe, and that’s what was important.”
It’s not known what caused the sudden outburst in class.

“I swear that if we had a nuke, we’d have used it this very morning,” vowed Jibril Rajoub during an interview with the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen TV channel, as reported by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).
Jibril Rajoub is the Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee and Chairman of the PA Olympic Committee.
And Obama thinks he can rationalize with peace talks with these people? It’s not happening. They want to see the destruction of Israel just like many other Islamic nations. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has made quite a few statements about Israel.

He claimed that, historically, Israelis were “minimal disturbances that come into the picture and are then eliminated.” His comments were condemned by the United States as “disgusting, offensive, and outrageous,” and by Israel as proving that Ahmadinejad “not only threatens the future of the Jewish people, he seeks to erase our past. Three thousand years of Jewish history illustrate the clear danger of ignoring fanatics like Iran’s president, especially as he inches closer to acquiring nuclear weapons.”

Ahmadinejad was subjected to a controversy when one of his statements, given during “The World Without Zionism” conference in Tehran, was translated to suggest Israel should be “wiped off the map,” an English idiom which means to “cause a place to stop existing,” or “destroy completely”. The story was picked up by Western news agencies and quickly made headlines around the world.On 30 October, The New York Times published a full transcript of the speech in which Ahmadinejad was quoted:
Our dear Imam (referring to Ayatollah Khomeini) said that the occupying regime must be wiped off the map and this was a very wise statement. We cannot compromise over the issue of Palestine. Is it possible to create a new front in the heart of an old front. This would be a defeat and whoever accepts the legitimacy of this regime has in fact, signed the defeat of the Islamic world. Our dear Imam targeted the heart of the world oppressor in his struggle, meaning the occupying regime. I have no doubt that the new wave that has started in Palestine, and we witness it in the Islamic world too, will eliminate this disgraceful stain from the Islamic world.
According the Official Iranian Presidential website, Ahmadinejad’s actual phrase was, Israel should be erased from the page of history.
DOD and DARPA go Matrix to hack the human brain for super soldiers
The Human Connectome Project (HCP) is dedicated to “understanding the complete details of neural connectivity.” They endeavor to “construct a map of the complete structural and functional neural connections in vivo within and across individuals.” By compiling data on genetics, behavior, matter fiber pathways, and functional correlations, the HCP have refined and optimized “the spatial and functional resolution of our connectome neuroimaging” as well as acquiring “high resolution neuroimaging data” to enhance understanding of the “neuroanatomical connectedness of the human brain.”
Advancing biometrics with neurological augmentations would result in successful connectivity of the human brain to robotic systems in a literal sense.
AutoNOMOS Labs have developed an iPad app that allows users to order their car to drive. After a few modifications, the technology can control the car through the brain of the driver. A software program called BrainDriver interprets and records information just as an EEG which can be understood and translated into intentions which are then played out by the vehicle.
At the Human Enhancement and the Future of Work conference, and further expanded upon in their published report, explains how science and ethics are coming into conflict as technology promises to replace the faulty human body with an eternal, mechanical replacement.
These transhumanists define human enhancement as everything that “encompasses a range of approaches that may be used to improve aspects of human function (e.g. memory, hearing, mobility). DARPA has a $2 billion yearly budget for research into creating a super solider as well as developing a synthetic police force. Working with the human genome, DARPA hopes to manipulate certain gene expressions. In experimentation, DARPA and the military industrial pharmaceutical complex are using natural abilities that are enhanced through genetic engineering.
Some of the medical feats DARPA would like to enhance are the ability of military soldiers to regrow limbs destroyed in battle.
By eliminating empathy, the Department of Defense (DoD) hopes to “enhance” a soldier’s ability to “kill without care or remorse, shows no fear, can fight battle after battle without fatigue and generally behave more like a machine than a man.”
Scientists are researching the construction of soldiers that feel no pain, terror and do not suffer from fatigue as tests on the wiring of the human brain are furthered by Jonathan Moreno, professor of bioethics at Pennsylvania State University. Moreno is working with the DoD in understanding neuroscience. The Pentagon allocated $400 million to this research.
Further study could be passed onto the general public in order to maximize profits as well as enhance the drug’s effectiveness. According to Joel Garreau, professor at Arizona University, DARPA is learning how to genetically modify human fat into pure energy by rewiring the metabolic switch which would create soldiers that require less food. By using gene therapy and combining enhancements to alter the color of the human eye is a blending of mutations that have no basis in the natural world.
In addition to genetically modifying the human genome, global Elite are obsessed with the merging man and machine, transhumanism and immortality. Basing advancements on scientific research, the 2045 Program will create “a new vision of human development that meets global challenges humanity faces today, realization of the possibility of a radical extension of human life by means of cybernetic technology, as well as the formation of a new culture associated with these technologies.”
The globalists at the 2045 Program assert that humanity “is in need of a new evolutionary strategy” consisting of a balance between the complexity of technological advances and the acceleration of informational processes to expand the “limited, primitive human” into a “highly self-organized” and technologically “higher intelligence”.
The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) published a document entitled Rebuilding America’s Defenses in 2000 which frameworks a strategy for American hegemony in the near future, identifying “problem areas” of the world and advising regime change of unfavorable governments so that in the end the nations of the world will be unified under the banner of American democracy.
The revelation of former US President George Bush’s “axis of evil” defined American policy under the guidelines of the PNAC with the identification of Iran, Iraq and North Korea which is literally mentioned in the PNAC as governments that require a regime change.
In the PNAC, the globalists have described the use of scientific enhancement and clinical trials turning the US armed forces into unwitting test subjects for the advancement of a super solider.
While Roger Pitman, professor of psychiatry at Harvard University is experimenting with propranolol which is a beta blocker that is believed to erase “terrifying memories”, soldiers are subjected to more research while serving to alleviate the psychological effects of war. Moreno explains: “The problem is: what else are they blocking when they do this? Do we want a generation of veterans who return without guilt?”
Ecocide: The Push to Criminalize Humanity For the Sake of Saving the Planet
By the year 2020, the eco-fascists hope to make ecocide the ultimate crime against the planet. With the green economy installed, and the mandates of Agenda 21 firmly in place, the only thing left to do is criminalize the entire human race. And ecocide promises to be the definitive “crime against peace”.
Ecocide is defined as “the extensive damage to, destruction of or loss of ecosystem(s) of a given territory, whether by human agency or by other causes, to such an extent that peaceful enjoyment by the inhabitants of that territory has been or will be severely diminished.”
Yet the proposed explanation of ecocide is vaguely termed with phrases like:
• Large-scale land use change that causes the direct destruction of habitats
• Significant pollution whether deliberate or incidental
• Open cast mining where entire landscapes are removed
The demonization of humanity is central to ecocide where human effects on the planet are classified as unsustainable and having irreversible consequences; hence requiring a criminal mandate that can be internationally enforced to protect the planetary boundaries of our world.
As a global law to be enforced by the UN, ecocide can enforce sustainable development under the control of the UN Environmental Program’s Green Economy.
According to the Green Economy Report, the “new millennium” demands a “new economic paradigm” which involves a world where a green economy replaces “environmental risk, ecological scarcities and social disparities.” The necessity of the engagement of the private sector is an imperative which includes “leveling the playing field for greener products by phasing out antiquated subsidies, reforming policies and providing new incentives, strengthening market infrastructure and market-based mechanisms, redirecting public investment, and greening public procurement.”
Securitizing fuel, food, water and the global financial system would drastically improve the global climate and biodiversity of which humanity is having “disastrous consequences”. And by 2050, the UN and the global Elite desire to have complete authority of all resources and control how those resources are doled out to the entire human population.
Nations like Ethiopia, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone, in Africa have coerced signed agreements with multi-national corporations and foreign investors, allowing them to control agricultural land. The nation’s leaders believe that giving access to their resources will benefit their people; however this is just another manipulative ploy to coercively acquire control over land, food production and securitization.
The UN has enacted global guidelines on purchasing agricultural land from developing nations like Africa and Asia.
The UN claims that to secure equality for the poor and disadvantaged, this international body must control their lands through the allowance of mutli-national corporations and governments who will develop the land for agriculture and securitize the crop yields; thereby giving the UN control over the global food supply.
The document entitled “The UN Global Compact and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises” outlines through “voluntary” means, the UN will implement their international guidelines with respect to corporate conduct, standards and abilities.
The UN decries that their voluntary code of conduct promotes equal rights for women by securitizing title to land. They also claim that they will give poor people access to their own land once they own and control it. And once the UN controls the land, they will enact “legal help” to settle disputes.
This document requires governments and local communities to adhere to UN rules with respect to business practices.
In 1992, the UN Sustainable Development Summit at Rio declared that in order “to achieve sustainable development and a higher quality of life for all people, States should reduce and eliminate unsustainable patterns of production and consumption and promote appropriate demographic policies.”
The Law of Ecocide promises to “prosecute those who destroy the planet.” And when made a legitimate legal mandate, alarmists and eco-fascisits will finally have the judiciary standing to unilaterally prevent any atrocities perpetuated upon the planet by corporation or individual.
While these fanatics complain that governments have yet to “intervene to make the destruction of our world a crime” the law enforcement and justice system of sovereign nations have their hands tied. With the advent of a global mandate, those nations would be forced to adhere to global governance and punish those found guilty by international law.
In Europe, the Green Party of England and Wales have given their “whole-hearted” support to ecocide – to be recognized as the international Crime Against Peace.
As it stands, with the UN Rome Statute, ecocide is not considered a crime against peace because those are defined as crimes of:
• Genocide
• War
• Humanity
• Aggression
Defined in the proposed Ecocide Act, all nations, corporations and individuals would be “under the principle of superior responsibility” and legal obligation to “ensure their actions do not give rise to the risk of and/or actual extensive damage to/or destruction of or loss of ecosystem(s).”
International mandate would empower eco-fascists to hold any nation, corporation or individual accountable for damage to or loss of any ecosystem and determine the legal ramifications of such actions which would include imprisonment and costs to restore the destroyed area.
The legislation justifying this remedy would be the Proceeds of Crimes Act of 2002. In the name of good environmental governance, usurping authority over persons, corporations and nations for the sake of ensuring the viability of our planet’s future seeks to ensure the UN and their factions have their hand over our lives indefinitely.
China accusing US of planting H7N9 as Bio Weapon
Amidst allegations by a highly placed Colonel in the Chinese army that the U.S. has released a bioweapon in Mainland China, concerns are ramping up that this year’s version of the avian flu, H7N9, may turn into a major pandemic.
The last few years have seen several false alarms on the pandemic front. Neither the bird flu of 2004 nor the swine flu of 2009-2010 ended up being of much concern, although agencies from the WHO on down certainly created quite a flurry around both of these flu bugs.
H7N9 has already shown itself to have a high mortality rate, higher in fact than the Spanish flu of 1918, which caused 50 million deaths worldwide. The latest figures show H7N9 as having a mortality rate of 21- 24% . Out of 131 reported cases, thirty-one have died and most remain on the critical list. The bug has already jumped from Mainland China to Taiwan and a number of articles on H7N9 have nervously published the flight paths out of China to the rest of the world, which show how quickly an infected person or persons could create a global pandemic.
According to Keiji Fukuda, WHO’s assistant director-general for health, security and the environment, “This is definitely one of the most lethal influenza viruses that we have seen so far.”
Already, there are questions as to whether H7N9 has mutated and is now transmissible from human to human. Of those who have been documented as infected with this flu, several are family members of others who have been infected. As quoted in Quartz on April 18, “The Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission said on Thursday it could not rule out human-to-human transmission in the case of a Shanghai family—two brothers, at least one of whom has the virus, and their 87-year-old father, who was the first confirmed H7N9 fatality. A husband and wife in Shanghai also both contracted H7N9.”
In a carefully worded statement (http://www.who.int/csr/don/2013_05_07/en/index.html), WHO has declared: “So far, there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission.” So the fact is that while H7N9 may have already mutated to afford the leap to human-to-human transmission, this has not yet been noted as a regular event.
H7N9 is made up of four strains, which have been delineated as coming from a migratory bird in East Asia, a duck from the Yangtze River Delta and then subsequently mixed with poultry. Its novel gene sequence is already considered to have enabled it to adapt to human hosts.
H7N9 is considered to be resistant to the popular flu countermeasure, Tamiflu.
After Chinese PLA Colonel Dai Xu posted a scathing attack on the United States, accusing the primary global power of releasing H7N9 as a bioweapon on the mainland of China, the U.S. was quick to respond, denying the allegations. However, Dai Xu’s accusation , posted on the Chinese microblog Sina Weibu, brings up an inconvenient fact. The United States has already been documented as violating the international biological weapons treaty, known as the BWC and has launched a covert program of offensive biological warfare research.
Should the U.S. intend to launch a global pandemic for the purposes of population reduction and/or genocide, what better mechanism than to plant a bug in a faraway country, to obscure the genesis of the initiating event and to make this appear as if this were out of the U.S.’s control and jurisdiction?
The fact that several selective delivery systems for biological/chemical warfare have already been documented within the borders of the United States adds credence to the perception that a flu planted in another country could be used as a cover for a selective devastation of certain demographic groups within the First World. The declaration of a global pandemic gives the WHO the power to mandate vaccinations, overriding sovereign national law concerning the right of refusal.
Vaccines, imposter pharmaceuticals, the double line water system —any and all of these mechanisms could be used to launch a bio/chem attack under the cover of a global pandemic.
Speaking under conditions of anonymity in a recent interview, a well-connected U.S. microbiologist stated that he believed that the United States was launching a covert program of biological warfare which would selectively impact designated target groups. He also stated concerns as to H7N9 being one of the tools which could be used to accomplish a genocidal agenda.
China, he also pointed out, has possibly the largest depository of rare earth minerals in the world. “You can’t get at them with all these billions of people living right on top of them,” he said.
A number of insiders, including Dr. Daniel Gerstein of the Department of Homeland Security, former Senators Bill Talent and Bob Graham of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Center in Washington, D.C. and vaccine manufacturer, Dr. J. Joseph Kim of Inovio Pharmaceuticals, have stated that a major global pandemic is likely to take place before the end of 2013.
CIA Official Breaks Silence on Extraterrestrials (+Video)
WASHINGTON—In a gripping testimonial, an ailing former member of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has talked via video for the first time publicly about his experience dealing with extraterrestrials, their craft and a cover-up.
The 15 minute prerecorded video of an anonymous former senior CIA officer was broadcast May 3 on the final day of the week long Citizen Hearing on Disclosure. The 77-year-old man, though he was articulate, and sitting up as he spoke, was obviously in a poor state of health. He worked for the CIA under President Dwight Eisenhower in 1958 and had chosen to break his long-held silence as he approached the end of his life.
Organizer of the Citizen Hearing, Steve Bassett, introduced the video saying it offered an insight into the suffering of many military and government officials who are forced to live a world of secrecy and fear in what he calls the “truth embargo” about extraterrestrial encounters.
“In a sense, this video represents the many individuals out there who could not come before a committee like this, who want to talk, but it’s difficult. The vast majority of individuals who have interacted with this issue while working for the government, going back to the 40s, took the information that they had to their grave and did not talk if they were told not to talk.
“This gentleman has received numerous threats from his government not to talk, but he wanted this testimony to be presented and we agreed. He has only been interviewed by two researchers who are here today, Linda Moulton Howe and Richard Dolan,” he said.
After the screening Linda Moulton Howe authenticated the former CIA official’s credentials and his account, telling the hearing she had spent three days with him in which she had recorded eleven 90 minute audio tapes in 1994. She said on her return to her home after the three days she had received a phone call from him saying he and his wife had been threatened with retaliation if they went public and she could not release the tapes.
Richard Dolan, who is visible in the video, also authenticated the man’s position.
The former CIA official had been involved with the U.S. Air Force’s Project Blue Book study of UFOs, which was initiated soon after the crash of a large object at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.
Teachers Frightened After School Holds Unplanned Shooting Drill
HALFWAY, Ore. Teachers were shocked and caught off guard when an Oregon school held a school shooting drill.
The Oregonian reports Pine Eagle Charter School in Halfway held the drill last Friday as children were home for an in-service day. Two masked “gunmen” burst into a meeting room holding 15 teachers firing blanks. Teachers only realized it wasn’t a real shooting when none of them were bleeding.
“There was some commotion,” school principal Cammie DeCastro told The Oregonian.
Teachers were frightened about what happened.
“I’ll tell you, the whole situation was horrible,” Morgan Gover told the paper. “I got a couple in the front and a couple in the back.”
The school held the unplanned drill in hopes to better educate teachers on how to deal with a school shooting. Of the 15 teachers in the room, only two would have survived.
“I’m in charge of a pile of kids,” Gover told The Oregonian. “It made me analyze as a teacher what my role is for these babies.”
The drill has been criticized but the school has dismissed the criticism.
“For us not to know how we were going to respond is leaving us open,” DeCastro told The Oregonian.
DeCastro added that arming teachers or having armed volunteers at the school are possible outcomes for the future.
Last month, the Oregon Senate Judiciary Committee passed, on a 3-2 party-line vote, four bills that would expand background checks and add new restrictions on carrying firearms. The bills next move to the Senate floor.
The proposed legislation would expand background checks to cover private gun sales and transfers, exempting exchanges between family members, including domestic partners. It would also prohibit licensed gun owners from openly carrying firearms in public buildings, allow school districts to ban firearms on school grounds, and require concealed-weapons permit applicants to take a course taught by a live instructor. A provision requiring applicants for concealed-weapons permits to pass a firing range test was dropped.
The drill comes in response to the December school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., that killed 26 people, including 20 children.

Obama Administration Criminalizes Christianity in the Military
In a stunning attack on the speech rights and free religious exercise of U.S. soldiers, the Obama administration has released a statement confirming the unthinkable: Any soldier who professes Christianity can now be court-martialed and may face imprisonment and a dishonorable discharge from the military.
The statement released to Fox News earlier today:
Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense…Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis…
This statement follows a recent meeting between Pentagon officials and fanatical anti-Christian activist Mikey Weinstein, who helped design the new punishments for Christians who dare to commit the hate crime of sharing their faith with others.

Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians–including chaplains–sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of ‘treason,’ and of committing an act of ‘spiritual rape’ as serious a crime as ‘sexual assault.’ He also asserted that Christians sharing their faith in the military are ‘enemies of the Constitution.’
Archaeologists Find Hundreds of Mysterious Metallic Orbs Below Mexico’s ‘Temple of the Feathered Serpent’
Archaeologists exploring tunnels under the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, a pyramid 30 miles from Mexico City, not only found three chambers (when they only expected one), but came across hundreds of mysterious metal spheres with unknown purpose.

According an article on Mexico’s National Institute of Archaeology and History’s website, the unexcavated portion of the tunnel under the temple in Teotihuacan was traversed by an infrared camera-equipped robot – Tlaloc II-TC — that also had the ability to scan the area to generate a 3D picture.
Getting through the tunnel was a challenge with the robot because of its weight and the presence of mud, according to archaeologist Sergio Gómez Chávez. He said the wet conditions were to create a scene like that the Teotihuacanos believed to be similar to the underworld.
With information from the robot, archaeologists were able to find that they need to remove 30 more meters of debris in the tunnel to reach the three chambers.

Two additional chambers that are within the already excavated portion of the tunnel is where archaeologists found the spheres, which they believe were placed inside at the last closing of the tunnel about 1,800 years ago.
“We can not yet establish its role because it is an unprecedented discovery. They should have a sphere, ranging from 4 to 12 inches and have a core of clay with organic matter, then covered them with pyrite, a mineral that underwent a process of oxidation and became jarosite, hence have a tone yellow,” archaeologist Jorge Zavala said, according to the National Institute of Archaeology and History.

Discovery News reported George Cowgill, professor emeritus at Arizona State University who has authored publications on Teotihuacan, saying the spheres in their original condition “would have shown brilliantly.” Still, he said he had no idea what they could mean.
Gómez Chávez said the orbs would have appeared “metallic” at the time due to their properties.
The researchers hope the tunnels and chambers will offer clues about rituals, like burials of important figures, that were conducted in Teotihuacan.
“We believe that high-ranking people, priests or even rulers, went down to the tunnel to perform rituals,” Gómez Chávez to Discovery News. ”Maybe in this place, we will find the remains of those who ruled Teotihuacan.”

Mysterious Jesus-Era Stone With Ancient Hebrew Text Sparks Major Debate Among Scholars
JERUSALEM – Interesting archeological finds are generally pretty fascinating. That’s why the so-called Gabriel Stone, like many religious artifacts before it, has captured so much attention. Discovered in Jordan 13 years ago, the tablet contains mysterious Hebrew writing — and has been a source of intriguing debate among scholars.
In addition to the odd writing, the stone features the archangel Gabriel. Jerusalem scholars continue to examine the message’s purported meeting, as the stone is at the center of a new exhibit in Jerusalem.

The so-called Gabriel Stone, a meter (three-foot)-tall tablet said to have been found on the banks of the Dead Sea, features 87 lines of an unknown prophetic text dated as early as the first century BC, at the time of the Second Jewish Temple.
Scholars see it as a portal into the religious ideas circulating in the Holy Land in the era when was Jesus was born. Its form is also unique — it is ink written on stone, not carved — and no other such religious text has been found in the region.
Curators at the Israel Museum, where the first exhibit dedicated to the stone is opening Wednesday, say it is the most important document found in the area since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
“The Gabriel Stone is in a way a Dead Sea Scroll written on stone,” said James Snyder, director of the Israel Museum. The writing dates to the same period, and uses the same tidy calligraphic Hebrew script, as some of the Dead Sea Scrolls, a collection of documents that include the earliest known surviving manuscripts of Hebrew Bible texts.
The Gabriel Stone made a splash in 2008 when Israeli Bible scholar Israel Knohl offered a daring theory that the stone’s faded writing would revolutionize the understanding of early Christianity, claiming it included a concept of messianic resurrection that predated Jesus. He based his theory on one hazy line, translating it as “in three days you shall live.”
His interpretation caused a storm in the world of Bible studies, with scholars convening at an international conference the following year to debate readings of the text, and a National Geographic documentary crew featuring his theory. An American team of experts using high resolution scanning technologies tried — but failed — to detect more of the faded writing.

Knohl, a professor of Bible at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, eventually scaled back from his original bombshell theory but the fierce scholarly debate he sparked continued to reverberate across the academic world, bringing international attention to the stone. Over the last few years it went on display alongside other Bible-era antiquities in Rome, Houston and Dallas.
Bible experts are still debating the writing’s meaning, largely because much of the ink has eroded in crucial spots in the passage and the tablet has two diagonal cracks the slice the text into three pieces. Museum curators say only 40 percent of the 87 lines are legible, many of those only barely. The interpretation of the text featured in the Israel Museum’s exhibit is just one of five readings put forth by scholars.
All agree that the passage describes an apocalyptic vision of an attack on Jerusalem in which God appears with angels on chariots to save the city. The central angelic character is Gabriel, the first angel to appear in the Hebrew Bible. “I am Gabriel,” the writing declares.
The stone inscription is one of the oldest passages featuring the archangel, and represents an “explosion of angels in Second Temple Judaism,” at a time of great spiritual angst for Jews in Jerusalem looking for divine connection, said Adolfo Roitman, a curator of the exhibit.
The exhibit traces the development of the archangel Gabriel in the three monotheistic religions, displaying a Dead Sea Scroll fragment which mentions the angel’s name; the 13th century Damascus Codex, one of the oldest illustrated manuscripts of the complete Hebrew Bible; a 10th century New Testament manuscript from Brittany, in which Gabriel predicts the birth of John the Baptist and appears to the Virgin Mary; and an Iranian Quran manuscript dated to the 15th or 16th century, in which the angel, called Jibril in Arabic, reveals the word of God to the prophet Mohammad.
“Gabriel is not archaeology. He is still relevant for millions of people on earth who believe that angels are heavenly beings on earth,” said Roitman. The Gabriel Stone, he said, is “the starting point of an ongoing tradition that still is relevant today.”

The story of how the stone was discovered is just as murky as its meaning. A Bedouin man is said to have found it in Jordan on the eastern banks of the Dead Sea around the year 2000, Knohl said. An Israeli university professor later examined a piece of earth stuck to the stone and found a composition of minerals only found in that region of the Dead Sea.
The stone eventually made it into the hands of Ghassan Rihani, a Jordanian antiquities dealer based in Jordan and London, who in turn sold the stone to Swiss-Israeli collector David Jeselsohn in Zurich for an unspecified amount. Rihani has since died. The Bible scholar traveled to Jordan multiple times to look for more potential stones, but was unable to find the stone’s original location.
Israel Museum curators said Jeselsohn lent the stone to the museum for temporary display.
Lenny Wolfe, an antiquities dealer in Jerusalem, said that before the Jordanian dealer bought it, another middleman faxed him an image of the stone and offered it for sale.
“The fax didn’t come out clearly. I had no idea what it was,” said Wolfe, who passed on the offer. It was “one of my biggest misses,” Wolfe said.

What function the stone had, where it was displayed, and why it was written are unknown, said curators of the Israel Museum exhibit.
“There is still so much that is unclear,” said Michal Dayagi-Mendels, a curator of the exhibit. Scholars, she said, “will still argue about this for years.”
